[Poetry] Convocation by Fran Abrams

Women whose hair never gets wet convene

like broken shells do

at the edge of waves

They assemble in beach chairs

like ancestors sat around campfires

in a quest for news

They gather gossip

like seagulls collect clams

to drop on sharp rocks
